The new program

CNet Training has launched a brand-new technical education program concentrated on wireless infrastructures.

The Certified Wireless Infrastructure Technician (CWIT) program focuses on a broad range of common wireless technologies which co-exist to create a complete wireless networking solution.

The reliance upon a constantly available network connection is something that modern society places great emphasis upon. The ability to make telephone calls, send emails, live stream to social media, and answer the doorbell, all whilst on the go, are only some of the ways in which the evolution of wireless networking has significantly improved our day-to-day lives.

When most people think of wireless networks they think of mobile technology (cellular) and Wi-Fi, when in reality the complete wireless networking footprint comprises of these as well as Bluetooth, satellite, microwave, line of sight optics etc.  CNet Training (CNet) identified a potential area in the industry where a gap in skills and knowledge could arise, especially with the continuing development and emergence of wireless technologies, and therefore created the CWIT program.

Developed for experienced digital infrastructure technicians who are wishing to take their professional credentials to the next level, the CWIT program expands learners’ knowledge with a focus on wireless networking such as mobile (cellular) architecture, Wi-Fi solutions and In-building wireless (IBW) systems, including Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS), license-exempt (OFCOM approved) cellular extension, Wi-Fi mesh and Wireless LAN (WLAN) featuring prominently throughout the program.

With three immersive case studies and the ability to work collaboratively with peers, the CWIT program provides a fantastic platform for learners to explore the challenges of wireless network implementation, analyse problems and identify technical solutions.

Paul Gorman, technical development manager at CNet Training, says, “The CNet Technical Development Team have carefully designed the content of the CWIT® program to develop the technical knowledge and abilities of network infrastructure technicians within the wireless environment. We worked in close collaboration with our customers, understanding their desire for their teams to gain the right skills, knowledge and certifications to address their specific customer demands. This is an excellent and robust program that will host a maximum of 12 learners, with a 1:2 equipment learner ratio. This aims to ensure the most effective learner experience throughout all practical sessions.”

On completion of the Certified Wireless Infrastructure Technician (CWIT) program, learners will gain an internationally and industry recognised BTEC Level 4 Award Certified Wireless Infrastructure Technician qualification, alongside an official CWIT certification, use of a post nominal title and logo as well as a digital badge.
Initially the CNet Technical Team will be delivering the program in East London, however, this is likely to expand this to CNet’s other Network Infrastructure centres across the UK and Ireland in the near future.
