UTN Manager from SEH Technology now supports macOS 12 Monterey from Apple and its new M1

01 May 2022

SEH Technology has adapted its SEH UTN Manager to the modern Apple operating system and current processor generations, the company said.

The software tool now supports Apple processors of the M1 series, which makes it possible to manage all USB device and dongle servers from the SEH product portfolio and easily access the USB dongles and devices connected to them.

“At the end of 2020, Apple had started to switch its hardware from the Intel architecture to its own ARM-based SoC CPU architecture," said Jörg Hecke, product marketing manager at SEH Technology. "At the same time, macOS 12 (Monterey) of Apple’s operating system was introduced; with it, important classes and frameworks were dropped, meaning our UTN Manager was no longer compatible.”

Hecke added that with Apple’s switch to the new macOS version in conjunction with the increasingly widespread M1 chip-based Apple computers, "we were faced with the task of creating a sensible, technically mature solution for our customers without imposing any customisations, cryptic settings or restrictions on the security of their user systems".

This service will be available to the market in the second quarter of 2022.
